AMD to briefly talk about Zen4 at CES 2022

In an exclusive interview with Antony Leather (Forbes/CrazyTechLab), AMD CTO Mark Papermaster confirmed that Zen4 architecture will be part of the CES 2022 press conference, however, the primary focus will be on updated Zen3 architecture with 3D V-Cache.

On January 4th, AMD is to unveil its next-gen Ryzen 6000 series for laptops. The company is also expected to launch Zen3 desktop processors featuring 3D V-Cache technology, and high-end desktop Threadripper PRO 5000 series. When it comes to other CPU products, such as Zen4 architecture, those are not currently expected to launch sooner than the third quarter of 2022. It appears though that the fans will get a glimpse of the upcoming architecture.

In the interview Papermaster confirmed that some details on Zen4 will be mentioned at CES 2022, with more annoucement coming througout 2022. It does not seem that AMD is ready to unveil product specifications just yet, but a brief mention of fundamental changes arriving with the next-gen Ryzen 7000 series might be on a table:

With regards to the upcoming generation – I point to CES in January. We’re excited to be revealing some additional details on our new product launches that will deliver phenomenal experiences and as we’ve said, later in the year as it progresses we’ll share more detail on Zen 4 with some mentioned at CES and more announcements on it over the course of 2022. It will be a very exciting year for AMD.

Last month AMD unveiled its Genoa and Bergamo server products, which are on track to launch in later 2022 (Genoa) and the first half of 2023 (Bergamo). For consumers, AMD is preparing Raphael and Phoenix CPU/APU products.

AMD Raphael will span across desktop and mobile devices, with up to 16 cores for mobile devices. The exact configurations of Raphael CPUs aren’t known yet, but it is seemingly confirmed that Raphael will support both DDR5 memory technology and PCIe Gen5 hardware. In terms of graphics, Raphael will feature integrated RDNA2 graphics, a feature missing from the main Zen1-Zen3 product line. The latest rumors suggest AMD might formally announce its Zen4 consumer products at Computex 2022.
