AMD Ryzen 7 6800U coming to GDP consoles
Tech reviewer Cary Golomb, whose channel is mostly dedicated to handheld gaming consoles, reports that the company called GPD has already received a batch of Ryzen 7 6800U APUs, indicating that the development process for next-gen consoles has started.

Just 3 days ago, a competing company called AYANEO, announced their plans for the second-generation console with Ryzen 7 6800U. This APU is AMD’s latest 6nm Zen3+ based processors offering higher performance, better power optimizations and support for even faster LPDDR5/DDR5 memory. More importantly though, this APU has RDNA2 graphics, clocked higher and featuring more cores than SteamDeck’s Van Gogh APU.
Unlike AYANEO, GPD offers consoles featuring both AMD and Intel GPUs. Their latest WIN3 GDP P2 MAX console is equipped with Core i7-1195G7 “Tiger Lake” SoC. The company is yet to launch an Alder Lake-based system.
According to Cary, GPD might release the first batch of Win Max 2 test machines in June. That said, there is a chance that GPD will be faster than AYANEO with the release of a new handheld gaming console, which is now expected by the end of this year.
